In 1998 two local Brooklynites
decided to
purchase the Northside Pharmacy and start dishing out their own brand of fast and friendly customer service.
It was the mid 1970's when co-workers Rachel Parker and Halina Jankowski first met while working in a pharmacy owned and managed by Edmund Charno. The girls were taken under the wing of their mentor, Edmund C harno and went onto become pharmacists. In 1997 Mr. Charno passed away leaving the two women searching.
In 1998, Rachel and Halina became official business partners with the purchase of Northside Pharmacy from an old classmate of theirs in pharmacy school. Since then, the two women have become a staple for any Williamsburger with a prescription or an ailment.
“Northside Pharmacy likes to be in tune with the customer’s needs. They pay attention to what the people in the neighborhood want, what things they ask for, and they get it for them” (Laura Vivoni, 11211 Magazine). Rachel, a shop-a-holic at heart keeps the shelves up to date with the newest products from organic soaps to high end styling gels, while Halina makes sure that the vendors are paid. Both women are bi-lingual (speaking Spanish & Polish) and multi taskers. Known to the neighborhood for their personal yet efficient brand of service they’re not only your local pharmacists, they’re your metaphorical mommy’s who will “kiss your boo-boo and make it better” (or at least deal with the insurance companies for you) |
